Diploma in Mechatronics

Diploma in Mechatronics at Marathwada Mitra Mandal's Polytechnic Pune
About Department

The Diploma in Mechatronics in Pune is an interdisciplinary program that integrates Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering to design and develop advanced automation and intelligent control systems. Mechatronics plays a crucial role in modern industries such as robotics, manufacturing automation, aerospace, automotive systems, and smart technologies.

The Department of Mechatronics was established in the academic year 2020–21 with an initial intake capacity of 30 students. Recognizing the growing interest and demand for the program, the intake was subsequently increased to 60 students from the academic year 2022–23. Continuing this trajectory of expansion, the department has further enhanced its capacity to 120 students beginning with the academic year 2026–27. This steady growth reflects the department’s commitment to providing quality education in Mechatronics and its rising prominence among aspiring engineers.

The curriculum blends strong theoretical foundations with extensive practical training. Students study mechanics, electronics, embedded systems, control theory, robotics, sensors and actuators, PLC programming, and industrial automation. The program emphasizes the integration of these domains to build efficient and intelligent mechatronic systems.

Modern laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art automation and robotics tools provide hands-on exposure to real-time industrial applications. Industry visits, workshops, and expert sessions ensure that students understand practical challenges and current technological trends.

After completion of the diploma, graduates are prepared to work as automation technicians, robotics operators, maintenance engineers, and system integrators. With strong programming skills and system-level understanding, they are capable of contributing effectively in multidisciplinary industrial environments.
